Golden, soft sunsets, early morning fog, and crisp brown leaves are just a few of many announcements of the coming season. I must say, I welcome it with open arms, like a traveler welcomes a bed after a long journey. So I would like to share with you a mix of outdoor and indoor fall activities that I enjoy doing in September.

This season has been tough. Summer was long and hot, and even keeping the plants hydrated proved to be a daily struggle.

But now, I can feel it in the air. The weather is changing. Mornings are fresh and thick with moisture, and everything has started growing once more. Along with my garden, I feel refreshed and renewed; a new burst of energy carries me through these days.

I spend most of my mornings out filming and capturing the essence of early fall, this special time in between two seasons. I long to visit the nearby forest, which I know will have that earthy scent and a galore of mushrooms popping up any day now.

And after a long day of work I return to a warm house. I just love to curl up on the couch with my dog, read a book, and enjoy a pumpkin spice coffee. This is life—those stolen precious moments that I spend in complete peace, unburdened by problems or to-do lists.

This has inspired me to make a list of my favorite wholesome cozy fall activities to relax and unwind this September and embrace a slower way of life, even for a moment:

#1 Read a book

read a book

No wonder this comes first to mind. Like I said earlier, nothing beats a blanket, a warm beverage, and an open book on your lap.

Find a cozy mystery to ponder over, venture on an adventure in a fantasy novel, or perhaps fall in love with a romance.

The choice is yours, find a book that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, and relax.

#2 Go for a walk

go for a walk

My favorite of all fall activities has to be a long walk in the nature.

If you have the opportunity, visit a forest at this time of year. It has that mysterious, magical vibe that resonates with your soul.

The fresh air, magic, and golden trees—that’s how I would describe it. Forests are most beautiful during the fall season. But if you live in an urban area, a park will do.

I used to love reading in the park, underneath an old chestnut tree. It was my favorite place to relax between classes.

#3 Cozy up your home

Decorate your home in fall color palette and make it all cozy.

Personally, I like to deep clean the whole house, light a candle, grab a blanket and enjoy a cup of apple and cinnamon tea.

You can also make a wreath out of branches, tree bark, and pinecones. You’ll find plenty if you take that walk in the forest I mentioned earlier. Just be mindful of how much you take, as the fruits of the forest might be a source of food for wild animals.

#4 Make time for fall hobbies

The days are getting shorter, and peaceful dark evenings are perfect for creative projects.

Knitting is like meditation while also making something that could warm you through the cold fall and winter days. Or you could try baking and make a beautiful pie out of berries.

If you’re a fan of the written word, why not start a journal, or maybe even write a short story if you dare? You can also pick up acrylic paint and follow a beginner tutorial on YouTube to paint a beautiful autumn scene.

Whatever you’ve been meaning to try, now is the time to do it!

#5 Have a picnic

fall activities: have a picnic

Weekend is here, and you have no plans?

Food always tastes different outside, so grab a blanket, fill up your basket with treats and hot cocoa, and head outside—alone or with a special someone.

Enjoy the nice view, food, and company while the brown leaves slowly descend around you.

A moment of mindfulness like this will surely prepare you for the week ahead.

Whatever is your activity of choice I hope you have a lot of fun and I’m wishing you a great beginning of this magical season, my friend.

Some moments from my morning walk with my dog 🙂
